Meet the Team -Bridget
Bridget is Laura’s Mum and is the ‘Mother Ship’ of Foxton Locks Lodges. When Laura is away Bridget is in charge and she will always be there to help you with a welcoming smile.
Tell us a bit about yourself:
I grew up in Leicestershire, firstly in Leicester itself and then we moved as a family to the nearby village of Gaulby. I started work in the travel industry, first for Page and Moy then I went to work for the founders of the local company Travelsphere, this is where I found my love for travel. I met my husband Andy Turney and moved to the family farm 40 years ago. I took on the role of farm secretary and passed this over to Laura when she moved back in 2011. I still play an active role in decision making on the farm.
What are your hobbies:
I love gardening more than anything and cooking is a close second. I play tennis once a week and golf when I get a chance. I entertain friends and family as much as I can…when lockdown doesn’t stop me.
Favourite local pub
The Bell Inn, Gumley. The perfect local and friendly pub. Very traditional and may make Pub of the Month soon on this blog!
Favourite Restaurant:
Rocksalt in Market Harborough, Laura doesn’t mention the great places to eat in the town. This is great dining and good value with a fantastic atmosphere. Booking is a must though.
Favourite Attraction:
This is not necessarily your typical attraction but is well worth a visit. Farndon Fields Farm Shop started in a port-a cabin selling local produce but the owners Millie and Kevin have made this into a full immersive experience. The most delicious local farm products, gifts, garden centre and a wonderful restaurant .
